Summer on the Hill (SOH) is a year-round, Grade 3-12, after-school program for promising, low-income public school students from the Bronx, Washington Heights, and Harlem. Founded in 1994, SOH has served 1,300 students who have benefited from accelerated academic, arts, and test prep classes, and guidance on school and college choices, offered by a dedicated faculty and staff. Students are nominated to SOH by their public schools, after which SOH conducts a comprehensive admissions effort to admit students who would benefit from the program. SOH's outcomes include excellent attendance and retention, placement at selective independent, parochial, and public schools, and college enrollment for many students who are the first in their families to attend college.
