KHCC's mission is to build on the strengths of residents in its diverse community, enabling them to effect change and improve the quality of their own lives and those of their families and their community. Despite poverty, unemployment, and other challenges, KHCC believes its residents have the ability to create a brighter future for themselves. KHCC yearly serves more than 9,000 participants from across the Bronx. KHCC programs include: Early Head Start; Head Start; After School Programs and Summer Day Camps; a Tween Program for youth age 12 to 14; a Teen Program providing counseling, leadership activities, and recreation; College Directions, including Early College Awareness; Special Needs Programs for developmentally disabled children and adults serving the entire borough; a Child Sexual Abuse Treatment and Prevention Program that serves the entire borough; the expanded Parent and Child Program that now operates at two separate locations to keep children out of foster care and to prevent abuse; Adult and Senior Services including Child Care Provider Training Program, as well as classes and recreation for families and adults.
