The mission of Urban Arts Partnership (UAP) is to advance the intellectual, artistic and social development of underserved public school students through arts-integrated education programs to close the achievement gap. UAP delivers arts-integrated programs designed as targeted academic interventions. Our programs are framed within a youth development model that supports social-emotional learning, student engagement, community impact and pathways to college and career. Infusing the arts into the academic curriculum, subject matter is taught in engaging ways, developing the critical thinking skills and fortitude needed for success in the 21st Century. In addition to direct service programs, we provide professional development to school educators and administrators, as well as workshops to parents and families, to equip them with a transformational set of creative approaches to support young people in unlocking their full potential. UAP is requesting this grant to support our Academy program and Alumni Scholars initiative. The Academy provides rigorous arts instruction, leadership development, college access and support and community impact to underserved high school students. The intended outcome is for all participating students to graduate high school and matriculate to college. Alumni Scholars is a college success initiative supporting alumni of the Academy in navigating the pressures of college life with the goal of successfully earning their degrees.
